Welcome to Prayer List ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile and web application available at PrayerList.me.

By using Prayer List, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us, including:

• Account information — your name and email address when you sign up.
• Profile information — optional details such as bio, location, home church, profile photo, and cover image.
• Prayer content — prayer lists, individual prayer requests, and notes you create within the app.
• Community content — posts and prayer requests you share within communities or sub-ministry groups.
• Messages — direct messages you send to other users.
• Feedback — any feedback, bug reports, or suggestions you submit.
• Payment information — if you choose to make a donation, we collect your email address and the donation amount. Your card details are entered directly with our payment processor (Stripe) and are never stored on our servers.

We also collect limited technical data automatically:

• Device type and operating system
• App usage data and feature interactions
• Notification permission status

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain the Prayer List app
• Personalize your experience and remember your preferences
• Enable community features such as shared prayer walls and group membership
• Send prayer reminders and notifications (only with your permission)
• Respond to your comments, questions, and support requests
• Improve and develop new features based on how you use the app
• Ensure the security and integrity of our platform

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:

• Within communities — content you post to a community prayer wall is visible to members of that community. Anonymous posts hide your identity as you specify.
• Service providers — we use trusted third-party services that process data on our behalf, under their respective privacy and confidentiality terms:
  • Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage for your account and content.
  • Stripe — payment processing for donations (receives your email and donation amount; PCI-DSS compliant). We do not store your card details.
  • PostHog — privacy-respecting product analytics (page views, feature usage, and your signed-in user identifier) to help us understand and improve the app.
  • Anthropic and OpenAI — AI assistance that processes prayer text you submit in order to generate suggested prayers. This content is sent only to fulfill your request and, per their API terms, is not used to train their models.
  • Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging) and Apple (APNs) — delivery of push notifications to your device (receive an anonymous device token only).
• Legal requirements — we may disclose your information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

5. Prayer Content & Privacy

We treat your personal prayer content with the utmost respect. Your private prayer lists are visible only to you. Community prayer requests are shared only with the members of the community you choose to post in. You may mark requests as anonymous — we will honor that choice and not display your name to other members (unless you choose to reveal it to a leader).

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. You may request deletion of your account at any time from the Profile tab in the app. Upon confirmation, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

7. Push Notifications

We may send push notifications to remind you to pray, if you grant permission. To deliver them we store an anonymous device push token (via Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging on Android, Apple's APNs on iOS, or the Web Push service in browsers); it contains no contact information and is removed when you revoke permission or delete the app. You can revoke notification permission at any time through your device settings or within the app's Profile tab.

8. Children's Privacy

Prayer List is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encryption of data in transit. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password and to contact us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

10. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Withdraw consent for notifications at any time

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
